Problem or just noise? "dnf upgrade" succeeded today (260+ packages
updated, seems like a lot for a one-day-old build, but this may simply be
a busy time.) System was booted to multi-user target after upgrade, this
message was generated at login time (but login succeeded, and journalctl
captured the log with this message.)

Which device? I'm presuming a RPi of some sort but you don't specify.
Is it plugged into a monitor with a HDMI interface or a TV ie one that
has audio over HDMI or one that does not? I suspect the later, and if
so mostly just noise.

Sorry. Yes, a Raspberry Pi model 3 (not the new 3+).

I suspect [a monitor with a HDMI interface]
Just so. OK, a little cryptic, but innocuous. Thank you.

Using a Raspberry Pi model 3.

28-20180319 boots fine to multi-user, but fails to start the graphical
desktop. A pointer is displayed (in the middle of the text screen
containing the last of the boot messages), but the graphical login screen
does not appear. The same Raspberry Pi with the same monitor works fine
with F27.

After a while (perhaps five or ten minutes, maybe longer; I did not
measure this interval), the system hangs. Before this, it is possible to
log in using ssh (that is how I changed the default target from graphical
to multi-user.)

I cannot see any obvious explanation in the journal, though there are
come complaints about gnome and gsd. These I copy below.

The first boot operation (graphical) proceeded normally (no graphical
login screen after first boot), and I was able to reboot and use ssh to
change to multi-user mode, reboot again, then dnf upgrade. Change
default target back to graphical, reboot, but no improvement with
software updates through March 20.

Any suggestions about how to learn more? Multi-user mode is fine for
most of my activity, but I am interested to learn whether my experience
is unique or if others see the same behavior.

Are Xorg log files now part of history, or could there be something like
that hiding where I did not look?

There is an accepted blocker for selinux issues on the disk images,
if you 'touch /.autorelabel' on the root filesystem it should work.
The relabel will take a while.

If multi-user mode works for what you are doing, I suggest using the minimal
image, or a light weight desktop like Xfce. Workstation is a bit sluggish
with 1G of RAM.

There is an accepted blocker for selinux issues on the disk images,
SELINUX=permissive in my case, therefore I believe that should not be the
problem here.

Workstation is a bit sluggish with 1G of RAM.
Yes, but if I access the machine with ssh (and do not use the local
graphical desktop) it does not seem sluggish. Best of both worlds,
really, because I still have the familiar Fedora graphical environment
for occasional use.

Thank you for your thoughts. No graphical desktop seems a rather blatant
symptom, which suggests I may have painted myself into some corner that
most users do not find. If no reasonable way forward with my current
system appears (and others do not experience the problem), I can wait for
the beta release and try that.
